List of Some Good Portable Applications

From my previous post you know that how to create a boot-able operating system and work on it and now as we make it we need some portable applications to run hear is the list of them

AbiWord

AbiWord

Free word processing in your pocket
Microsoft Word is a solid piece of software, but for most people's needs, it's a bit bloated and unnecessarily expensive. AbiWord is a capable, free, open-source Word alternative that will feel familiar to users of Office 2003. It can open and save to Microsoft's industry standard DOC files, and its small download size (5.7MB) makes it ideal for users with SSDs or otherwise limited storage. AbiWord also includes several foreign-language dictionaries. All that's really lacking is a full-fledged grammar check, but if you paid attention in middle school, you shouldn't miss it much. Free. Foxit Reader 2.3

Open PDFs the fast way
There's a reason polite Web sites warn you when you're about to click on a PDF link. Few things can bog down a system faster than Adobe's Reader, which is the default PDF app on most machines. Foxit Reader is a stellar free alternative that loads PDF files lightning-fast. It may not have all the features of Adobe's offering, but if all you do with your PDF files is open them and fill out the occasional form, Foxit has you covered. There is a version optimized to run off a USB flash drive, but this standard version worked on our flash drive on multiple machines just fine. Free. Download It Now

GIMP Portable
GIMP Portable

Portable, powerful free image editing
GIMP is an excellent open-source image editor that’s quite powerful once you get used to its sometimes less-than-intuitive interface. This portable version is designed to run from a USB flash drive, which makes it a useful tool for helping friends and family tweak their photos when you drop by to visit. Power users may balk at the lack of CMYK support, but for most nonprofessionals, GIMP Portable is robust enough to tackle any image-editing task you’re likely to undertake. Free. Download It Now

InfraRecorder Portable
InfraRecorder Portable

Burn discs for free on the go
This portable free CD/DVD recorder can come in quite handy if you’re at a friend’s computer or anywhere the installed software is confusing or nonexistent. Fire up InfraRecorder Portable from your flash drive and its intuitive interface will get you burning files in no time, saving you from fumbling through unfamiliar features. Free. Download It Now

VLC Media Player Portable
VLC Media Player Portable

Versatile video viewer
Just like the original but flash-drive friendly, this portable app will let you play almost any unprotected video file—as well as DVDs—with ease. It will tackle most audio, too, with support for WAV, WMA, MP3, and AAC, and a host of other formats. Never let your flash drive leave a USB port without it. Free. Download It Now
